How They Could Improve the Roads in Pennsylvania
Sparky with his Powerful Steam Shovel excavating for the large trestle
A lot of the old roads in Pennsylvania are narrow and crooked, and a lot of times you have to drive 40 miles to get to something about 20 miles away.

If they was to think it over reel carefully, they could decide to hire me to bring my Powerful Steam Shovel and my Wagon and Wheelbarrow so I could dig some straight roads that they could then pave with tar and make it easier to get to everywhere faster.

Now I also have a Powerful Bulldozer fer heavy grading jobs, so building a highway like that would be a breeze.

I would probably charge them my regular rate of 1 cent per day, plus batteries for my Powerful Steam Shovel and New Powerful Bulldozer, of course, and they would have to feed me and give me a nice room where I could watch TV and relax after a hard day of working on the road.

I'll let you know if they contact me to start the work after I send them an E-Mail telling them I'm available.

NOTE: Both the Powerful Steam Shovel and Powerful Bulldozer are World Famous, cuz we see them all over the place when traveling.

Hershey, Pennsylvania  1,813 miles from home.

September 11, 2003.  We ate breakfast then checked out oSparky's heart-pounder rating 3f the motel and headed for the Hershey Factory Tour.  It was kind of fake cuz they take you around in a little train-like car that takes you through a fake factory that shows you how their candy is made.  I guess that was better than the pretzel tour that I'll tell you about next.

Their candy store was pretty good, though, cuz in the back room they had a big barrel full of damaged candy that me and Dexter managed to get into without getting caught, and we got a whole bunch of reely good candy that didn't even have any bugs in it or anything like we usually find with damaged candy that we find in a parking lot or somewhere else like that."Peanut," our newest brother

They had a reel cool gift shop, and that's where we got our newest brother, named "Peanut," and he is a little gray elephant that quickly made friends with everybuddy.  If you look reel close at photo #3 below, right in the middle, behind the yellow hanging light, you can see some of Peanut's twin brothers that are still in the store.

After they took the factory tour, they took a bus tour of the city of HSparky's heart pounding rating 10+ershey, and the guy handed out some candy samples as he told the story of Mr. Hershey, and some history of the city.  None of us guys went on the bus tour cuz we was busy foraging for candy in the back room of the gift shop, but it sounded reel cool.  All in all, because of the great candy and nobuddy bothering us, I'm giving the gift shop a heart pounding rating of 10+, which is pretty hard to get, cuz I'm pretty fussy!

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot that there's also a reel big amusement park at Hershey, but the old folks and none of us guys like to ride rolly coasters or other rides like that, so that's why we didn't go there.

Lititz, Pennsylvania

Sturgis Pretzel House  After we got done in Hershey, we headed up the road again, for the Sturgis Pretzel House, in Lititz, Pennsylvania, which is 20 miles away if you're a crow, or about 35 miles if you're in a vehicle.  We ate lunch out of the goody bag we carry in the van, in the alley behind the Pretzel Factory.  Me and the guys chose to eat some of our candy and a few Cheetos fer dessert.

They advertised a factory tour, so, of course, that sounded interestSparky's heart pounder rating 1ing.  The tour consisted of a guy giving the old folks a piece of pretzel dough and showing them how to roll it out and twist it into a pretzel.  The real factory was in the back but it was not open for tours.  They also got to see the old ovens where they used to cook pretzels about 3,000 years ago.

Anyhow, the pretzels we got were really great, though, so I would give them a rating of 10, except I don't have room to put in the logo with the 10.

After all that excitement, we headed off and arrived in Absecon, New Jersey and checked into a motel.

No Philadelphia This Trip

The last time we went to Philadelphia, the traffic was bad so we finally found a place to park, down by the river then went out walking to see what we could see.

The main street was so full of detours and holes in the street covered with thick steel plates, that it was impossible to drive there.

We watched a truck and tractor pull up in the middle of the street, then stop while the tractor loaded some construction debris into the truck.

Meanwhile, people were advised to drive up onto the sidewalk by a local bum who made himself a traffic expert.  Several people took his advice, but one woman who didn't want to take her Cadillac up over the curb just waited there, while the rest of the cars behind her blew their horns and yelled at her to get out of the way.

Just as quickly as the truck and tractor had blocked the street, they took off and the traffic jam was soon dispersed.

We did manage to see the Liberty Bell, but it was broken, probably by getting hit by a truck driving up on the sidewalk.

That's why we didn't stop this time, cuz our van doesn't drive on the sidewalk very well!
