Welcome
to the "Y'all Belt," Y'all
Proper
use of "Y'all"
"Y'all
take care now, y'heah?"
Correct form for saying good bye, or showing concern for
someone's welfare. "Y'all
need to sell some of them junk cars in the yard."
Shows your deep concern for both the person's financial and
aesthetic situation. "We
be over to y'all's place 'long 'round supper time."
Demonstrates the plural, possessive usage of "y'all,"
while complimenting the wife's cooking. "Y'all
be careful so's not to fall into that hole in the floor."
Shows concern for a houseguest's safety. "The
revenooers is headin' up to y'all's place shortly."
Shut up and run! "Y'all
want grits wif that plate of snouts and greens?"
You're in the wrong restaurant "Y'all
have a seat while I run and fetch the doctor up from his nap."
Maybe you're not as sick as you first imagined. "Y'all're
in a heap of trouble, now, boy!"
Next time watch those traffic signs. When
NOT to say "Y'all." When
you're visiting into Yankee Country.
They'll know that y'all're from down south.

Mississippi
We got to
Gulfport, Mississippi the next day, and drove along the
beach fer quite a while and it was reel cool. We
stopped at the place where great big boats come in from long
ocean voyages, and pretty soon we saw where there was a
great big boat full of containers of bananas. Each
boat holds 3,000 or more containers of freight...bananas in
this case. Giant
cranes remove several rows of containers down to
the
bottom of the ship and each full container is loaded onto a
special trailer frame and fastened down for a trip to
a nearby warehouse. As soon as they reach the
bottom
of
the ship, trucks begin bringing empty banana containers to
go back into the ship, and the truck parade continues until
all the full containers have been replaced with empty ones,
then the ship is ready to sail off for another load of
containers full of bananas. As
soon as orders are filled, the containers full of bananas
are transferred onto the special trailers that will take
them all over the country to grocery stores and warehouses. I
never knew there were that many bananas eaten even in the
whole world. For some interesting information, click
on the link below: Banana
Museum After
a few more security guards checked us out fer driving all around
the port we got out of there and drove along the beach. Gulfport
and Biloxi are right next to each other, in fact, they share
a reel nice sign with a bunch of flags flying over it,
"Welcome to Gulfport"
appears on one side and "Welcome
to Biloxi" on the other side. The
Gulfport/Biloxi area has a reel neat divided road that
goes for miles right along the beach. Between the
eastbound and westbound roads is a pretty wide area that is
full
of palm trees and other plantings, turn lanes, etc.
The businesses are about 50 feet up an a little hill, so it
makes for a reel pretty drive along the beach where you can
actually see the beach without having to try to look between
T-shirt shops, souvenir stands, condos, motels and fast food
joints, but that stuff is still close by. The
pitcher at right shows how white the sand is, and also the
nice boardwalk and divided road.

Alabama Bellingrath
Gardens,
April 23, 2003 We
went to Bellingrath Gardens, near Theodore, Alabama, cuz
they had a boat ride, and everybuddy knows that next to a
train ride, trolley car ride, motorcycle ride, New York
Subway ride, San Francisco trolley bus ride, bike ride, and
afternoon nap, us guys jest love a boat ride. We
was all tired and decided to take a nap instead of that boat
ride, but Sniffy decided he would go anyway, cuz he can take
a nap in a boat as well as anywhere. Sniffy
said that the gardens was reely pretty cuz they had some
reel pretty orchids in a greenhouse. He said they keep
them in there cuz orchids are so delicate that if they get
too cold or too hot or the wind blows on them, or somebuddy
looks at them wrong they curl up and turn brown. Kinda
like a vampire that gets burned up if even a single ray of
sunlight hits him. They
also had a lot of tough flowers that was also reel
pretty. They took a lot of pitchers, but you ken jest
go to their website cuz they have a lot of reely good
pitchers there, too. Bellingrath
Gardens
The boat ride was great cuz a
lot of seagulls kept coming around and begging for food, but
nobuddy din't have none, so I guess them birds jest had to go off and
starve somewhere.
After the boat ride
everybuddy plopped down on a swinging bench fer a rest, and
they took a pitcher of themselves by putting the camera on
the little 3-legged tripod and using the magical timer to
take the pitcher without nobuddy being near the camera.
Sniffy said that swing chair
was reel scary cuz it creaked and groaned whenever somebuddy
tried to swing in it, so they didn't stay there very long.

"Banana Day" is June 5.
Bananas were introduced to Americans
at the Centennial Exposition in
Philadelphia, in 1876, and have become one of the most popular
fruits.
There are literally hundreds of
varieties of bananas, many that don't even look edible, being red,
brown or black. Americans overwhelmingly prefer the familiar
yellow variety.
A "Bunch" of bananas is
actually the amount that grows on the long stem on the tree.
The small group of 4-6 is called a "Hand."
They can be kept fresher longer by
keeping them in a sealed plastic bag to keep the air from helping
them to ripen and turn brown.
